Muskingum University will prepare for the number one ranked team in the nation this week, Mount Union. The start of the game was delayed due to a power line being down caused by an accident. So with the regular start time being at 7:30 p.m., the game did not start till 8:30 p.m. In the first quarter the Muksie's played hard and held Mount to only touchdown coming from first team All- OAC Cecil Shorts. In the second quarter it was a bit different story. Due to a couple of turnovers (one coming on a kickoff return) the Muskie's found themselves in a deep hole going into the half. The Muskie's were losing 35 to 0.
In the second half once again the Muskie defense showed up to play and this time they only gave up a 37 yard field goal to kicker Jay Carpenter. This put Mount Union ahead 38 to 0. Even though the Muskie's were down they never gave up and in the fourth quarter with 14:55 left again the game sophomore running back D. Bailey ran the ball in from 1 yard out. The Muskie's put that drive together with 11 plays going 62 yards. This would put the score 38 to 7. Mount Union would only put one more touchdown on the board, but it would be the Muskie's to have the final score. With 6:21 left in the game J. Burns threw a 21 yard touchdown to senior receiver D. Sutton. Which made the final score 45 to 14.
